Habit/Description:  This cold hardy Camellia is a beauty for the winter landscape. The evergreen foliage is a dark, glossy green. Habit is upright and open.

Size at Maturity: 10' tall and about 6-8' wide.

Flower:  Single pink blooms surround a bright yellow center and last 4-6 weeks in fall.

Special Interest:  Besides the beautiful, butterfly attracting pink flowers in the fall, the large dark green leaves stay vibrant year-round. Best when used in a hedge, mass planting, privacy screen, border, cutting garden, containers, specimen and woodland gardens.

Care Information: Easy to grow, however, needs regular watering, especially during the first season. Requires full shade to partial sun. Will burn in full sun. Does not require dead-heading due to its natural, self-cleaning habit. Prune after flowering to shape. Mulch heavily and when necessary, provide acid fertilizer when the shrub is finished flowering in the fall.

Habit/Description:  This sun AND part shade loving Hydrangea has created awesome possibilities in the landscape world since its introduction. The large bright whitish/green blooms are spectacular and persist through frost. Upright growing deciduous shrub. Large medium green leaves.

Size at Maturity: 5-8' tall and wide.

Flower:  Green/White panicle blooms repeat from late summer through late fall.

Special Interest:  This beautiful shrub provides excellent fall interest with its large white blooms. Great for borders, containers, hedge, mass plantings, poolside, specimen, woodland gardens. Perfect for cut flowers. Dried flowers retain beautiful form. Naturalizing. Pretty yellow fall leaf color.

Care Information: Easy to grow and care for. Will tolerate full sun and would like part shade in the afternoon- in warmer climates. Panicled Hydrangeas do not like wet feet, so be sure to plant in well-drained soil. Can be pruned back to 1/3 its size in spring. You can fertilize at that time as well. Acidity/Alkalinity levels do not affect bloom color. Can prune into topiary/tree form.

Habit/Description:  Yellow and Green mottled evergreen shrub with thick, glossy leaves. Grows best in shade. Upright rounded shrub with a moderate growth rate.

Size at Maturity: Will reach a mature size of 6’ tall by 4’ wide (in 10 years.)

Flower:  Purple, but insignificant. Blooms in March and April.

Special Interest:  The large glossy green leaves appear to have been sprayed with yellow paint. Perfect for borders, coastal plantings, containers, houseplant, specimen, foundation plantings, woodland garden and shaded areas. Foliage is wonderful for foliage arrangements. Drought tolerant. Female plant will produce attractive red fruit.

Care Information: Water weekly in extreme heat until established. Follow regular watering schedule for first growing season to allow proper root establishment. Feed with all-purpose fertilizer in spring. Prune in spring after blooming to maintain neat shape. Easy care.

Habit/Description: 

The winter daphne has yellow-margined leaves and blush-pink flower buds that open to fragrant white flowers bloom in winter into early spring. The mounding 'Marginata' cultivar is beautiful in the winter landscape.  Daphne odora is evergreen and shade loving.  Native to China and Japan.

Care Information:  

Daphnes need to grow in fertile, humus-rich, slightly acidic soil. They prefer full sun or partial shade. Choose a spot with good drainage but not completely dry. Avoid transplanting and pruning. Does well under trees.

 Originally from China and Japan, this lovely evergreen shrub/small tree, is now a staple in American gardens. The unusual bloom time, beautiful flowers, tighter habit and lustrous dark leaves make this a favorite of gardeners. Pair the Camellia sasanqua with the large foliage of Hydrangea, Holly, Hosta and Heuchera for a beautiful shade display.
